Friday afternoon my G1 arrived and I love it. I’m not going to go into a ton of detail because there are more than enough reviews that do that.
The integration with Google mail, calendar, and contacts is so great, I never have to worry about getting stuff synced anymore it just does it. When I update a contact I know that will be updated on the other end. Maps and street view integration is sweet, and it came at good timing because Saturday I had to find my way to a hospital, but that’s a story for another time. Until the image is cached street view is somewhat slow, you tap on an arrow and it has to load that image, but once loaded you can jump back and forth pretty quickly.
The one thing I wish it had was a virtual keyboard. I never had an iPhone to experience a totally virtual keyboard environment, but HTC devices in the past had a virtual keyboard and a physical keyboard. It is just annoying to have to pull out the keyboard for everything. The exception to “everything” is dialing a number that is touchscreen.
If you can get the chance to play with one I encourage you to use it for a little bit. I cancelled my AT&T contract today because I love this phone so much. I had service issues too, but the phone is what really made me leave AT&T.

I have for quite a while now been interested in the Nokia E90, but because of the $800 price tag I am very hesitant to buy it without seeing one in person. Can anyone who happens to own one reply so I can start a dialog on the phone and get some of my questions answered.

The bad news is it looks like one of my clients may have been attacked. I kept noticing problems and found that the reboot and shutdown commands were missing. When I did a hard reboot I found out init was also missing so the server was dead in the water. Those commands just don’t go missing. After spending hours that night trying to move things to a new VPS I had trouble moving the PostgreSQL databases and just got those working yesterday.
One piece of good news is the car was taken into the shop and I found out it wasn’t going to be the $1800 I thought it was going to be, it is going to be like $800-900. It would have been less if I had taken it in sooner since the rotors rusted badly.
The 2nd to last piece of good news is that I am moving to Atlanta at the end of this month for a new job and I am VERY excited.
The last piece of good news will have to wait, but soon, very very soon.

The first big of news I heard was about a blind man who was arrested for driving a car. What makes it absolutely hilarious is that he was drunk and he had 3 friends in the car who were also drunk giving him directions. Picturing that scene I almost drove off the road laughing.
The second story is about a woman who bought a crack rock and after smoking part of it she realized it was fake. Outraged she calls the cops to help her get a refund. How can any crack that makes you call the cops be fake? haha

I recently received a letter from VA department of taxation that I owed them money for a previous year. It turns out the reason was because I filed the return for my Florida income while in Virginia and they assumed I made the money in VA. I guess I was supposed to notify them I really don’t know, but having electronic copies of everything made it much easier to clear up.
A few months ago I took all my bank statements and credit card statements and scanned them. It was about 300 pages so it took some time, but when I needed to find a document I just looked it up by type (bank, credit card, etc) and then by the company and I was able to find all the statements from when I was in Florida. I didn’t have to dig through any papers to find statements with my Florida address on them I could just use the wheel on the mouse to flip through images, if I even had to do that.
Moral of the story, scan everything and burn it to DVD.
