I realized when I was redesigning the site that I say a little too much. I make some extreme comments and in most cases I do not watch what I say for the simple reason I can say what I want. I don’t always think about the relationships and people involved and how what I say may cause a problem. I changed a couple of my previous posts for this very reason, and I felt bad that I wrote what I wrote the first time, it just seemed very unprofessional and childish of me. I am going to try to keep things on the right path from now on.

I received and email to the account I was given for the FTA project and it dawned on me, I have way way way too many email accounts. I have a number of domain names and want to keep email for each domain and I use each one for different projects so I have additional email addresses for each. If I have the email addresses act as an alias I cannot reply as that email address. This introduces headaches I could really do without. From my records I have about 15 email addresses and that my friends is too many, especially since I do not receive mail to every one of them on a daily basis. It is an extreme case, but as a techie, can you really live without having a lot of email addresses? Consider that you get a free one for Yahoo, AIM, Google, then you have your own domain and of course other projects, businesses. I don’t really use my Yahoo or AIM email accounts, but I have them.

Google introduced a while back POP3 retrieval so you can have it download mail for other accounts and you can send as that user. I think I am going to move to doing that with all of my accounts because it really would save a lot of time and hassle. Being able to send as that user would be a huge help too, but I don’t know how that could be done through a client, or how SPF records or whatever they are effect the abilities of that function.

I do know I am going to switch all the email for my domains to Google apps soon, since it saves the sent messages even if they are sent via Outlook or Thunderbird. That is the biggest drawback of webmail in my opinion, you cannot reference sent mail.

So I spent a lot of the day redoing the design for this site. This one is tableless and I need to change a few things to get the XHTML to validate, but it is pretty clean. It is based on the previous design so I set it at version 2.5, but it has many improvements over the other version. I do still have some work to do adding some of the old plugins and adding in more new ones. I also plan on making a user choice of 1024 or 800 since the width makes some posts short. I hope you like it.

Today, March 22, 2007 marks 3 years of not smoking. This is a big day for me and it has been very tempting to smoke, but I have made it this far and I am very proud of that.

Recently I have been involved with some individuals that failed to meet my expectations and I have let it bother me a little too much. The situation is that someone was hired to do a job, did not finish the work I was informed they would finish and the work they did complete was lacking in my ways.

I don’t blog about my personal life much, but in past years I have had some tough times, and some of that was financially and it really really makes me upset when I see people making 250% of what I do and they can’t even do the job. I have had to fix most of the problems that have been introduced or the parts that were not completed. I am making enough that a lot of people would be happy with their take home, but the individual I speak of has made a lot more and from what I have seen does not deserve it.

There have been a number of amateur mistakes made and I just don’t understand how someone can get by with some of the things I have seen and still make as much as they informed me they were making. True, it could have been a lie, but I somehow doubt it. I am not trying to broadcast that I am a genius in the design world, or ever close to what some of talent that is out there, but I have been doing it for a long time and there are just certain things you do and don’t do.

The whole point of this is that just because someone charges less than another does not make them any less quality, and just because someone is more expensive does not mean they are worth it.
